The Trust has been carrying on its activities since inception with
the help of philanthropists, friends, well meaning members of the
Society. The Trust is able to fund its activities to a limited
extent. Substantial money is also being brought in by the Trustees.
The children are provided with usual and simple pleasures of life
and are assisted in managing themselves in a demanding environment.
The care and love of the Trustees concerned has brought about a
refreshing change in their lives, approach and attitude of the
children. About 10 special and physically challenged children all from the rural areas and abandored by their parents are looked after in rented building at Mysore. They are under the care of an efficient social workers, who devotes her entire time with them. These children, who are not even conscious of their personal hygiene, and are looked after meticulously, cleaned and attired properly and fed with rich nutrition food. A doctor and a physiotherapist visit the home periodically to check and improve their health and physical abilities. The special children, who are at present confined to a limited space, need more moving space, besides an open ground to breath fresh air and play outdoor games. They need, besides regular checkup by a physician, a full time physiotherapist to train them on their physical abilities. It is also necessary to teach some basic education and to train in some useful work so as to enable them to keep engaged and feel self-confident. Fresh intake of such children is also on the anvil depending up on the availabilities of space. At present, the problem of female infanticide has assumed alarming proportions specially among the poor rural populations. The central and state government have enacted stringent laws to curb this. In keeping with this measure the Trust intends to adopt cradle child scheme also, where abandoned babies will be looked after with a view to make them useful citizens when they reach adulthood.
Make a difference in the lives of kids who need it most. |
